EthStorage Receives 2 Grants from Optimism for ZK Fraud Proof Research
Recently, Optimism (OP) announced its final recipients of its Season 5 grants. We are delighted to share that EthStorage's groundbreaking proposals, in collaboration with QuarkChain, focusing on "Research and Development on Multi-Section Dispute Game" and "Research on Alternative Op Stack Zero-Knowledge Fault Proof Using WASM", have each been granted 30,000 and 50,000 OP respectively, propelling EthStorage forward in its pioneering pursuits within the OP ecosystem.
What is the OP grant about?
Optimism Collective offers grant support for builders within the OP ecosystem. These grants come in two primary forms: Collective grants, provided upfront for forthcoming projects, and Retro Funding, allocated to completed projects based on their impact. Season 5 grants from Optimism encompassed five Collective Intents, each with several missions. It attracted an overwhelming 314 proposals, of which only 40 were selected.
EthStorage has made significant progress in the ZK Fraud Proof field since the zkGo compiler's release in September 2023. zkGo is a minimum modified Go compiler to produce Wasm code compatible with ZK prover. (Link: https://ethstorage.medium.com/advancing-towards-zk-fraud-proof-zkgo-compiling-l2-geth-into-zk-compatible-wasm-a03319bec935) These two proposals underscore our ongoing research and accomplishments in ZKFraud Proof. And we are honored to be quoted as one of the three best ZK teams working towards zero-knowledge-proof research, alongside Mina and RiscZero.
Read more details about the Proposals:
- Research on Alternative OP Stack Zero-Knowledge Fault Proof Using WASM: This proposal outlines a hybrid ZK and optimistic fault-proof mechanism based on the Wasm instruction set. It leverages zkWasm to prove the state transitions of the OP Stack.
- Research and Development on Multi-Section Dispute Game: This proposal aims to extend bisect-search fraud proofs to K-section-search fraud proofs within a fault-proof system by leveraging cost-efficient EIP-4844 DA technologies. By reducing interaction rounds from 40 to 3, it significantly accelerates the settlement of fault proofs and lowers the cost.
