EthStorage made significant strides in 2024, propelling Ethereum’s storage capabilities forward and securing its status as a top-tier modular, decentralized storage Layer 2 solution.

Technological Achievements

EthStorage Launched Public Testnet

EthStorage launched its public Testnet in March 2024. To celebrate the launch of Testnet, EthStorage launched 2 public Testnet campaigns. These events allowed storage providers to join the P2P network, contribute storage capabilities, and submit storage proofs to earn rewards. More than 50,000 community members attended the campaigns. Over 170 nodes submitted over 490 storage proofs, with an average reward of over 0.1 Sepolia ETH per submission. A total of 120 nodes submitted storage proofs more than once.

EthStorage Published Ethereum Storage Roadmap

Ethereum storage, though less spotlighted, holds significant importance within the Ethereum ecosystem. As the Ethereum network is experiencing rapid growth, the storage, and accessibility of Ethereum data emerge as critical challenges.

The EthStorage network’s primary advantage lies in providing a decentralized, direct incentive on top of Ethereum — a pioneering feature, as far as our current knowledge extends.

Salus, a renowned blockchain security firm, successfully completed the comprehensive audit of EthStorage in Dec 2024. This milestone underscored our commitment to building a secure and reliable decentralized storage layer for Ethereum.

The audit results affirmed EthStorage’s robustness and readiness for broader adoption. With this validation, we’re one step closer to revolutionizing on-chain storage for unstoppable dApps.

Grants and Partnerships

EthStorage Integrated with Celestia to Provide Long-Term DA Solution for Ethereum L2/L3

EthStorage announced an integration with Celestia, the leading modular data availability network today. This integration will offer a complete long-term data availability (DA) solution for Ethereum L2/L3. Celestia’s Blobstream will relay commitments to Celestia’s modular DA layer to Ethereum, while EthStorage will act as a permanent data storage solution for DA BLOBs powered by its innovative proof of data availability sampling over time algorithm.

EthStorage Donated 1% of the Total Supply to ProtocolGuild

EthStorage announced on Mar 8, 2024, that the team has taken the Protocol Guild Pledge (PGP) and committed 1% of our token supply to the members of the Protocol Guild. This will support their ongoing stewardship of Ethereum.

EthStorage Received 2 Grants from Optimism for ZK Fraud Proof Research

On May 07, 2024, Optimism (OP) announced the final recipients of its Season 5 grants. EthStorage’s groundbreaking proposals, in collaboration with QuarkChain, focused on “Research and Development on Multi-Section Dispute Game” and “Research on Alternative Op Stack Zero-Knowledge Fault Proof Using WASM”, have each been granted 30,000 and 50,000 OP respectively, propelling EthStorage forward in its pioneering pursuits within the OP ecosystem.

EthStorage Received A Grant from Optimism for Offering A Complete Long-Term DA Solution for OP Stack

In May 2024, EthStorage received a grant from Optimism to extend the availability of EIP-4844 blobs by integrating the OP Stack with EthStorage. This collaboration aims to provide a comprehensive long-term DA solution for the OP Stack’s EIP-4844 (Ecotone) upgrade.

Vitalik Highlighted EthStorage’s Work on Efficient On-Chain Storage

On Oct 28, 2024, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin highlighted EthStorage’s efforts on his X account. Reflecting on the idea of reviving EthSites with data stored in blobs, Vitalik noted that his recent posts, including images, utilized only 4–8 blobs each — demonstrating the efficiency of this approach.

He acknowledged the work of EthStorage’s Founder Qi Zhou and the team in advancing this vision, emphasizing their role in exploring innovative solutions for on-chain data storage. The Web3 URL Brutal Co-Learning initiative, jointly launched by LXDAO and EthStorage, conducted rigorous evaluations of projects across multiple dimensions — including workload, completeness, technical implementation, innovation, product experience, and user value. Community Engagement and Events

EthStorage participated in events across Europe, the Americas, the US, and the Middle East, aiming to connect with builders and developers worldwide.

  • ETHDenver (February 23 — March 3): EthStorage team participated in ETHDenver and dozens of side events. Qi Zhou delivered a keynote speech on Building a Modular Storage Layer for Ethereum on EIP-4844.
  • ETH Seoul (March 30): EthStorage team attended the conference, and the core team presented on the main stage and gave a talk on ETH Seoul.
  • Token2049 Dubai (April 17th): EthStorage joined side events as a panelist, such as Modular vs Monolithic and The Verified.
  • South East Asia Blockchain Week (April 30): EthStorage participated in the SEA Web3 Builders Meetup, engaging with regional developers to strengthen its ecosystem.
  • ETHPrague (May 31 — June 2): The EthStorage team visited Prague. Qi Zhou participated in ETHPrague, and delivered four talks at the main stage.
  • Lagos Blockchain Week (June 10–15): Qi Zhou presented “EthStorage — Building a Modular Storage Layer for Ethereum on EIP-4844” during the DWeb Storage Expo.
  • ETHCC (July 8–10): EthStorage team was at ETHCC and co-hosted several side events.
  • EDCON (July 23–30): Qi Zhou and other team members attended EDCON and shared his insights on how to build a Modular Permanent DA & Storage Layer on Ethereum.
  • ETHWomen & Ethereum Toronto (August 13–14): EthStorage emphasized diversity and inclusion, with one team member discussing women’s leadership in Web3 and blockchain.
  • ETH Shenzhen (August 17): EthStorage team was invited to attend ETH Shenzhen and participated in a panel discussion about modular blockchain.
  • KBW 2024 (September 01–06): EthStorage played a prominent role at KBW. The team attended events including Hack Seasons Seoul, KOLs Night, AI Workshop Collaboration, Core Network Seoul, etc. These activities solidified EthStorage’s presence in South Korea as a leading innovator and set the stage for future collaborations.
  • Token2049 Singapore (September 18–20): EthStorage team participated in Token2049 Singapore events such as Web3 Impact Mixer, L3 & ZK Summit.
  • ETHKL (October 4–6): EthStorage team joined and shared insights at ETHKL24.
  • ETHShanghai (October 16): Qi Zhou participated in ETHShanghai 2024, and took part in Panel: Ethereum Protocol Upgrades from the Perspective of Application Developers, engaging in a discussion about the evolution of Ethereum and its impact on application development.
  • EthSofia & Hackathon (October 17–19): On Oct 18th, EthStorage’s CMO, Anthurine Xiang, discussed the platform’s commitment to long-term storage with on-chain proof verification. At the Hackathon, EthStorage offered bounties for projects utilizing Web3:// protocol, promoting innovation in decentralized applications.
  • DevCon Week in Bangkok (November 12–15) was a major milestone in EthStorage’s efforts. We attended 12 side events. Key activities included: EthBangKok 2024, DEINSHIGHT 2024, Night of the Elephants, Mass Adoption Forum, Scaling DeAI Summit, Hack Seasons conference, etc. It was a meaningful experience to share insights during Devcon alongside incredible leaders and to build new connections.
  • Taipei Blockchain Week (December 12–14): Anthurine attended panel discussion: Reinforcing Web3: Infrastructure Developments for a Seamless User Experience.

Looking Ahead

Throughout 2024, EthStorage has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing Ethereum’s storage capabilities through strategic partnerships, successful testnet campaigns, and active community engagement. These achievements position EthStorage as a pivotal player in the evolution of decentralized storage solutions within the Ethereum ecosystem.

Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be an even more exciting year for EthStorage. We are thrilled to announce our plans to launch the EthStorage mainnet, bringing our vision of scalable, modular, and decentralized storage solutions to life. This milestone will pave the way for groundbreaking use cases and unlock new possibilities for decentralized applications. Additionally, we will focus on advancing fully on-chain AI agents, leveraging the power of EthStorage to drive innovation and expand the boundaries of what’s possible in decentralized AI.

In addition, we will be hosting a series of events in 2025 to engage and empower our community further. From developer-focused workshops to global collaborations and campaigns, our goal is to strengthen the connections within our ecosystem and inspire innovation on a broader scale.
